What is All-on-4®?

All-on-4® dental implants are an innovative and efficient solution for restoring a full arch of teeth. This advanced technique uses four strategically placed implants to provide immediate functionality and a secure, natural-looking smile. One key benefit of the All-on-4® approach is that it often eliminates the need for bone grafting, making it an ideal option for patients who have experienced bone loss due to aging, periodontal disease, or other factors.

Designed for both efficiency and comfort, All-on-4® implants streamline the restoration process, allowing patients to regain their ability to eat, speak, and smile confidently in less time. This minimally invasive solution restores oral function and helps maintain facial structure by stimulating the jawbone. With its lasting results, the All-on-4® technique is a transformative option for those looking for a reliable, long-term alternative to traditional dentures or multiple implants.

How does it work?

Before starting the procedure, Dr. Kharmouche will administer a local anesthesia to reduce any pain or discomfort that may occur. Then, four dental implants will be placed in specific strategic locations. Two implants in the front of the mouth will be placed at 90 degree angles wherever bone mass is highest. Then, two more implants will be placed in the back of the mouth at 45 degree angles. This will allow the implants to absorb natural bite forces without coming loose.

After the implants have been placed, a temporary set of dentures will be attached and ready to use that same day. After a period of three to six months, the implants will become fully integrated and a permanent set of implant supported dentures will be put in place.

FAQ: How All-on-4® Dental Implants Restore Smiles in Sterling, Leesburg & Aldie, VA

All-on-4® dental implants begin with a consultation and imaging to plan placement. During surgery, four implants are strategically positioned—two straight in the front where bone is strongest, and two angled in the back to maximize contact and support. A temporary denture is attached the same day, followed by a permanent prosthesis after 3–6 months of healing, once the implants fuse to the jawbone (osseointegration).

This treatment uses advanced imaging and guided surgical planning to place four implants in areas of optimal bone density. The angulation technique provides stability and reduces the need for bone grafting. The Nobel Biocare system ensures immediate function and natural aesthetics.

Most patients experience a shorter recovery time compared to traditional implants. While some soreness is expected for a few days, you’ll leave with a temporary set of teeth the same day. Full healing (osseointegration) typically takes 3 to 6 months before final dentures are placed.

Yes. One of the primary benefits of All-on-4® is its ability to avoid bone grafting by using angled implants that make use of existing bone, even in cases of moderate bone loss. This approach makes it ideal for patients previously told they weren’t candidates for implants.

When teeth are missing, the jawbone lacks stimulation and begins to shrink over time. This condition, known as bone resorption, can lead to facial collapse. All-on-4® implants help prevent this by stimulating the bone, much like natural tooth roots.

Traditional dentures rest on the gums and can become loose as the jawbone deteriorates. Without teeth or implants to provide pressure, the bone shrinks, leading to poor denture fit. Implant-supported dentures like All-on-4® anchor to the jawbone, preventing slippage and improving function.

For patients with extensive tooth loss and low bone density, All-on-4® dental implants are often the best solution. They avoid the need for bone grafting and offer a secure, long-term replacement with immediate function and improved comfort.

Delaying treatment can lead to further bone loss, making future procedures more complex. Scheduling now means you can restore your smile faster, avoid more invasive surgeries, and regain function and confidence sooner.
